Day 9 – Is world really such a small place ?
While walking through Oslo’s downtown, I saw an elderly couple—uncle clicking aunty’s pictures near a quiet corner. Me and my husband smiled and offered, “Shall we click one together?” Their faces lit up instantly, as if we had gifted them a small joy.
After the photos, we began talking—just a polite exchange of “Where are you from?”—and suddenly the air changed. They replied in Gujarati, our mother tongue. A few more words, a few surprised laughs, and we discovered aunty was from my dad’s hometown. She even knew my aunt!
What began as a casual gesture turned into a thread connecting lives across countries. A photo became a bridge. Sometimes, the universe reminds us how beautifully intertwined we all are.
We spoke to my dad on call right there, laughter filling the Oslo air. Later, I learned they are in touch with my parents even after we returned home. Two strangers we’d never met now part of a story that continues.A random photo clicking resulted in the connections that might now stay for life.
Maybe the world isn’t small—it’s simply well-connected by moments waiting to happen, if only we stop long enough to say hello.
